Welcome to Student Rights & Education.

These Terms of Use & Resource Licensing Terms explain the conditions that apply when you visit studentrightseducation.com, download or purchase a resource, book a service, participate in a program, or use materials created by Student Rights & Education and Dr. Cameron McCuaig.

By using this website, purchasing or downloading a resource, or booking a service, you agree to these terms.

In these terms, “Student Rights & Education,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Student Rights & Education, operated by Dr. Cameron McCuaig.

1. Educational Purpose

Student Rights & Education provides educational resources, writing, professional learning, consultations, speaking services, and practical tools related to student voice, rights-informed education, classroom culture, school leadership, parent advocacy, and the Web of Rights.

Our resources are intended to support reflection, learning, planning, and professional practice. They are not a substitute for professional legal, medical, psychological, therapeutic, or crisis support.

Educators, parents, caregivers, and school leaders remain responsible for exercising their own professional judgment and following the laws, policies, professional standards, collective agreements, safeguarding requirements, and procedures that apply in their setting.

2. Ownership of Website and Resources

Unless otherwise stated, the original content available through Student Rights & Education is owned by Dr. Cameron McCuaig or Student Rights & Education and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual-property laws.

Protected materials may include:

The Web of Rights framework and its original expression
Guides, planners, worksheets, printables, scripts, activities, and templates
Books, articles, blog posts, newsletters, and educational writing
Webinar, workshop, course, and presentation materials
Videos, recordings, transcripts, graphics, photographs, and illustrations
Website copy, product descriptions, and downloadable files
Logos, resource covers, branded designs, and original visual materials
Original classroom examples, implementation processes, and resource organization

Purchasing or downloading a resource does not transfer copyright or ownership to you. You receive only the limited permission described in these terms or on the applicable product page.

All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

3. General Website Use

You may use this website for lawful personal, educational, and professional purposes.

You may:

Read and share links to publicly available website pages
Quote short passages for commentary, discussion, or educational reference when proper credit and a link to the original page are provided
Download resources when a download is expressly offered
Purchase and use resources within the licence attached to the product
Contact us about speaking, consultation, professional learning, or permission requests

You may not:

Copy or republish substantial portions of the website
Present our writing, frameworks, designs, or resources as your own
Remove copyright notices, branding, author names, or website information
Use the website or its contents for unlawful, misleading, defamatory, or fraudulent purposes
Attempt to interfere with the security or operation of the website
Collect information from the website through unauthorized scraping, harvesting, or automated extraction
Use our content to create competing commercial resources without written permission

Sharing a link to an official Student Rights & Education webpage is encouraged. Copying the page itself to another website, document, course, or platform is not permitted without authorization.

4. Free Resource Licence

Free downloadable resources are provided under a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence.

Unless a particular resource states otherwise, an individual who downloads a free resource may:

Save one personal digital copy
Print copies for their own personal or professional use
Use the resource within their own classroom, family, school role, or professional practice
Print student-facing pages or discussion materials for students they directly teach or support
Refer to the resource in a staff or professional-learning conversation
Share the official website or download-page link with another person

Downloading a free resource does not give permission to:

Email or distribute the complete file to a mailing list, staff group, or professional network
Upload the file to a public website, social-media account, shared resource library, marketplace, or open-access platform
Upload the file to a school, district, or organizational drive for unrestricted use by multiple people
Sell, sublicense, or charge others for access
Remove or replace the author, logo, copyright notice, or website address
Edit the resource and distribute the edited version
Translate, adapt, reproduce, or publish the resource as a new product
Use the resource as part of a paid course, workshop, training package, or commercial service without written permission

Please direct colleagues and community members to the official download page so they can obtain their own copy.

5. Paid Individual Resource Licence

Unless the product page expressly states that a broader licence is included, each paid downloadable resource is sold under a single-user licence.

A single-user licence belongs to the individual purchaser. It does not automatically belong to the purchaser’s school, district, organization, department, team, or employer.

The licensed purchaser may:

Download and save the resource for their own use
Maintain a reasonable personal backup copy
Print the resource for their own professional use
Complete, annotate, and adapt blank planning spaces for their own practice
Print designated student-facing pages for students they directly teach or support
Use the resource to guide discussions and activities within their own classroom or assigned professional role
Display individual pages temporarily during instruction with students they directly teach

The licensed purchaser may not:

Forward or share the digital file with colleagues
Post the complete file on a school, district, team, or organizational drive
Upload it to Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace, Moodle, Canvas, or another learning platform for access beyond the purchaser’s own directly supported students
Print complete copies for other educators, staff members, schools, or departments
Share one purchase across a teaching team or organization
Resell, sublicense, rent, or commercially distribute the resource
Upload the resource to a public repository, resource-sharing website, or marketplace
Remove the author’s name, branding, copyright notice, or website information
claim the resource or its framework as their own work
reproduce the resource in another book, guide, planner, workshop, course, webinar, or professional-learning package
translate, substantially adapt, or create a derivative commercial resource without written permission

Student-facing printables may be reproduced only for students directly served by the licensed purchaser. Teacher-facing instructions, scripts, planning pages, and professional reflection materials remain for the purchaser’s individual use.

6. School, District, Team, and Organizational Use

A single-user purchase does not provide school-wide, department-wide, team-wide, district-wide, or organization-wide permission.

Additional permission or a multi-user licence is required when:

Two or more educators will use the resource independently
A school wants to place the resource on a shared drive
A principal or instructional leader wants to distribute copies to staff
A district, board, organization, or professional association wants to use the material
The resource will be included in formal professional learning
The material will be reproduced for a workshop, seminar, course, or conference
The resource will be adapted for an organization’s own implementation materials

To request a team, school, district, or organizational licence, contact Student Rights & Education before distributing or reproducing the material.

Any broader licence must be confirmed in writing. Payment for one copy does not create implied permission for wider use.

7. Workshops, Presentations, Courses, and Professional Learning

You may refer generally to ideas learned through Student Rights & Education resources in your own professional conversations.

Written permission is required before you:

Reproduce complete pages in presentation slides or handouts
Distribute our worksheets, activities, scripts, or templates during a workshop
Teach the Web of Rights as a paid course or branded training program
Record and sell training based substantially on our resources
Use our material in a commercial consulting service
Translate or adapt our resources for organizational distribution
Represent yourself as an authorized Web of Rights trainer, facilitator, consultant, or partner

Permission may be subject to attribution, audience, duration, format, licence fees, or other conditions.

A purchase does not create an endorsement, certification, partnership, employment relationship, or authorization to represent Student Rights & Education.

8. Attribution and Quotations

Short quotations from publicly available articles or website pages may be used for commentary, scholarship, or educational discussion when:

The quotation is reasonably limited
The wording is not changed in a misleading way
Dr. Cameron McCuaig or Student Rights & Education is clearly credited
The original webpage or publication is identified
The quotation is not used to imply endorsement

Permission is required for substantial excerpts, full-page reproductions, images, diagrams, tables, printables, scripts, or adaptations.

9. Permission Requests

Contact us before reproducing, adapting, translating, publishing, distributing, or commercially using protected materials.

A permission request should include:

The material you want to use
The specific page, section, image, or resource
How it will be used
The intended audience
Whether access will be free or paid
The number of copies or expected users
Where and for how long it will appear

Permission is not granted unless it is confirmed in writing by Student Rights & Education.

Silence, prior informal discussion, or access to a downloadable file does not constitute permission.

10. Digital Product Delivery

Digital products are generally delivered electronically after successful payment through the email address supplied during checkout or through another delivery method identified on the product page.

You are responsible for:

Providing an accurate email address
Checking spam, junk, promotions, and filtered folders
Maintaining access to the email account used for purchase
Downloading and safely storing purchased files
Confirming that your device can open the stated file format

We may ask for the purchaser’s name, email address, order number, or other reasonable information needed to verify the transaction.

11. Digital Product Refunds

Because digital products are delivered electronically and cannot be physically returned, downloadable resources are generally final sale once the file or download link has been delivered.

A refund or replacement may be considered when:

You were charged more than once for the same order
You received the wrong file
The supplied file is damaged or cannot be opened
A technical problem on our side prevents delivery
A refund is otherwise required by applicable law

Before requesting a refund because of a technical issue, please allow us a reasonable opportunity to replace the file or correct the delivery problem.

A refund will not normally be provided because:

You changed your mind after receiving the resource
You did not read the product description
You no longer need the resource
You expected content or features that were not listed
Your employer will not reimburse the purchase
You purchased a single-user licence but later needed a broader licence
You lack compatible software despite the file type being stated
You downloaded the product but did not use it

Nothing in this section removes any non-waivable consumer right available under applicable law.

12. Physical Products

If physical books, printed planners, or other physical products are offered, the return, exchange, shipping, and delivery terms displayed on the relevant product page or during checkout will apply.

Any product-specific policy forms part of these terms.

13. Consultations and Booked Services

Consultations, workshops, speaking engagements, and other booked services are subject to:

The description provided on the booking or service page
The price and payment schedule shown at booking
Any written proposal, invoice, or service agreement
The cancellation and rescheduling terms presented before payment
Any additional terms agreed to in writing

Booking a consultation does not create a lawyer-client, therapist-client, medical, or formal advocacy relationship.

Consultations provide educational information, reflection, and general support. They do not guarantee a particular school decision, legal outcome, workplace response, student outcome, or resolution.

Parents and caregivers should avoid sending confidential student records or unnecessary identifying information through general forms or email. Educators and school leaders remain responsible for protecting student privacy and following their professional and institutional obligations.

Where a written service agreement conflicts with this webpage, the signed or expressly accepted service agreement will govern that particular service.

14. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Missed Appointments

The cancellation and rescheduling conditions displayed on the booking page or supplied with the booking confirmation form part of your agreement.

Unless a different written arrangement applies:

Rescheduling is subject to availability
Repeated rescheduling may require a new booking
Missed appointments may be treated as completed
Fees already incurred for preparation, travel, venue costs, or third-party services may be non-refundable
Student Rights & Education may reschedule or cancel a service due to illness, emergency, safety concerns, technical failure, or circumstances beyond reasonable control

When Student Rights & Education cancels a paid service and cannot provide a suitable replacement date, the amount paid for the undelivered service will be refunded.

15. Prices, Taxes, and Payments

Prices are displayed in the currency identified during checkout.

Applicable taxes may be added where required. You are responsible for reviewing the total price before completing a transaction.

Payments are processed through Wix Payments or another provider displayed during checkout. We do not control all payment-provider decisions, including authorization, fraud screening, currency conversion, bank fees, or payment rejection.

We may correct obvious pricing or listing errors. When an error affects a completed order, we will contact the purchaser and provide an appropriate correction, replacement, cancellation, or refund.

16. Accounts and Passwords

Some website functions may allow or require an account.

You are responsible for:

Providing accurate information
Keeping login information confidential
Restricting access to your account
Informing us promptly about suspected unauthorized access
Ensuring that activity conducted through your account complies with these terms

We may suspend or close accounts used for unauthorized distribution, fraud, infringement, harassment, or other misuse.

17. Testimonials, Reviews, and Submitted Material

When you voluntarily submit a review, testimonial, comment, photograph, or other material for possible publication, you confirm that:

The submission is truthful
You have the right to provide it
It does not improperly identify a student or disclose confidential information
It does not violate another person’s privacy or intellectual-property rights

We will not publicly identify a child or disclose sensitive personal information through a testimonial without appropriate authorization.

Specific permission will be obtained before using identifiable customer photographs, recordings, or detailed stories for promotional purposes.

18. Third-Party Services and Links

The website may link to or use services provided by Wix, Wix Payments, Mailchimp, social-media platforms, podcast services, research databases, external publications, and other providers.

Those services operate under their own terms and privacy practices.

A link does not necessarily represent endorsement, partnership, or responsibility for the external website’s content, availability, security, accuracy, or practices.

19. Availability and Changes

We work to keep the website and resources accurate and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

We may:

Update or correct website content
Revise a resource
Change prices
Add or remove products and services
Discontinue older versions
Restrict access where misuse occurs
Perform maintenance or security work

Purchasing a resource does not automatically include future editions, updates, coaching, technical support, or additional products unless the product description expressly says so.

20. Educational Disclaimer

Educational practice depends on context. A strategy, framework, example, script, or activity may not be appropriate for every student, family, classroom, school, or jurisdiction.

Examples are provided for education and reflection. They are not promises of specific results.

Users are responsible for considering:

Student age and development
Disability and accessibility needs
Cultural and community context
Safety and safeguarding obligations
Applicable education law and school policy
Professional standards
Privacy and confidentiality
Available staffing, resources, and supports

Nothing on this website should be interpreted as directing an educator to disregard a lawful safety requirement or a binding professional obligation.

21. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Student Rights & Education and Dr. Cameron McCuaig will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from reliance on website content, educational resources, external links, interrupted access, or the independent implementation of educational ideas.

Where liability cannot legally be excluded, it will be limited only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

22. Violation of These Terms

Unauthorized copying or distribution may result in:

Withdrawal of permission to use the resource
Suspension of website or account access
A request to remove or destroy unauthorized copies
An invoice for the applicable broader licence
A copyright or platform complaint
Other steps available under applicable law

23. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without limiting any mandatory rights you may have under the laws of another jurisdiction.

Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be addressed in the courts or other legally appropriate forum having jurisdiction in Ontario, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

24. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms when our products, services, licensing practices, technology, or legal obligations change.

The current version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.

Changes will apply prospectively unless a different approach is required by law. Product-specific or service-specific terms accepted at the time of purchase will continue to apply to that transaction.

25. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
